Shots fired at the facade of a restaurant gave cold sweats to customers who were inside very late Thursday in the Rivière-des-Prairies district of Montreal.
Montreal police were alerted around 11:30 p.m. by calls to 911 about shots fired at the front of the Chez Smoothzi sweet & savory counter on avenue André-Ampère, near boulevard Armand-Bombardier.
Upon their arrival at the restaurant, the police met the customers, including a 53-year-old woman slightly injured in the lower body by possibly a broken window who was transported to a hospital center, according to the spokesperson for the Police Department of the City of Montreal (SPVM).
According to initial information, one or more suspects fired several shots at the glass facade of the establishment and then fled before the arrival of the police, said agent Caroline Chèvrefils.
Shell casings were found on the ground while the scene was protected by a security perimeter for investigators and forensic identification technicians who will have to analyze it to try to determine the exact circumstances of this event, added the SPVM.
