Montreal | School closed following threats

A Montreal school was forced to close its doors Monday morning after being the target of threats on social media.

An individual allegedly made threatening remarks towards the Pointe-aux-Trembles secondary school, located on Sherbrooke Street East. It would have notably been a question of firearms.

The establishment then contacted the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) around 7:30 a.m. The police went to the site before the start of classes, so that no one was inside and no confinement was necessary.

“There were no students at school. All those who arrived were relocated to Société de transport de Montréal buses,” explains agent Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the SPVM.

The investigation will continue during the day in particular to find the individual behind these threats and to arrest him, adds Agent Brabant.

On its website, the Pointe-aux-Trembles school specifies that the establishment will be closed for the day, and asks students and staff members not to come to the premises.
