The incident occurred shortly after 2:20 am, on the night of Thursday to Friday, when police officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) first attempted to “intercept a vehicle traveling on highway 15 South, in Montreal, ”reports the BEI in a press release, specifying that the driver refused to stop despite an order to this effect.

A pursuit was then launched. During this, the police would have lost sight of the vehicle a little before the exit for Sherbrooke Street.

The suspect’s vehicle was finally found “seriously damaged” on Highway 15 North, near Sherbrooke Street, in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce district.

It was on the arrival of help, shortly after, that the death of the two occupants of the vehicle, young men aged 16 and 18, was unfortunately noted.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) will also act as a “support police service”, in particular by providing a reconstitutionist who will work under the supervision of BEI investigators. Unusual fact: this is the third survey in 24 hours that the BEI is launching in the metropolis. Thursday, a first investigation was opened after a man had been shot by police officers in the afternoon, in Lachine, then a second the same day, when another person was hospitalized after his arrest.

Another incident Thursday night

A little earlier, at around 11:20 p.m. Thursday, a cyclist was violently struck by a car on the viaduct of Boulevard Angrignon, near the intersection of rue Notre-Dame, in the borough of LaSalle.

Last I heard, the 27-year-old cyclist was lying in critical condition in hospital as the driver of the car, a 29-year-old man, suffered a nervous shock but did not have to be taken away to the hospital.

According to the first observations of the SPVM agents, the cyclist crossed the traffic lane of the viaduct, thus crossing the path of the car which was heading south. The investigation will be carried out by collision experts from the SPVM in this case.
