Montreal | Pedestrian injured in hit-and-run

(Montreal) A pedestrian was injured in the head on Friday night, in the north of Montreal, when she was hit at an intersection by a car whose driver fled.

The driver was captured a little later, a few kilometers from the scene of the incident.

According to several communications transmitted to the 911 emergency telephone exchange, the impact occurred around 4 a.m. at the intersection of Saint-Laurent Boulevard and Beaubien Street, in the Little Italy sector.

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) reported that the 28-year-old woman was conscious when she was transported to the hospital, but at the end of the night, she was unaware of the seriousness of her state of health.

Witnesses told police that after the incident, they saw the driver’s vehicle heading north on Saint-Laurent Boulevard. A few minutes later, the driver swerved onto the Boulevard de l’Acadie ramp leading to Highway 40 heading west.

The driver, a 23-year-old man, was then arrested and taken by the police to an investigation center to undergo an alcohol test.

Security perimeters were erected by the police at the scene of the hit-and-run and where the swerve occurred so that the police could continue their investigation.
