The artists in residence of the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal will offer a free recital on March 19 in support of the Ukrainian community.
Posted at 2:41 p.m.
The concert will be presented at the Ukrainian National Federation — Montreal branch, at 7 p.m. It will then be possible to make donations to the Canada-Ukraine Foundation, an organization that contributes to humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.
The recital will also be filmed and webcast the next day on the platforms of the Opéra de Montréal. Donations will also be collected online.
The 10 soloists of the Atelier lyrique were affected by the war, especially since one of them, the mezzo-soprano Martina Myskohlid, is of Ukrainian origin. It is for this reason that the singers wanted to unite and offer their services to Ukrainian organizations.
“We can sometimes feel powerless in the face of such a tragedy, but the important thing is to do our part,” explained Chantal Lambert, director of the Atelier lyrique de Montréal, in a press release published on Tuesday.
“These young artists want to put their art at the service of their society. They are very committed to supporting causes close to their hearts, such as the war in Ukraine,” she added.
