Montreal North | Motorist dies after collision

(Montreal) A motorist died in his burning vehicle after hitting a tree while driving on Léger Boulevard, in the borough of Montreal-Nord, Monday morning.




Speed ​​could be involved in this fatal collision which occurred around 4:30 a.m. on boulevard Léger, near avenue Fortin.

Firefighters were still busy putting out the fire when police arrived. The body of a person in the driver’s seat was found inside.

“The deceased is still not identified at this time,” said officer Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM). The victim was alone in his car at the time of the accident. The driver was traveling eastbound on Léger Boulevard before losing control of his SUV and ending up against a tree.

Léger Boulevard will be closed to traffic between Fortin Avenue and Rolland Boulevard for much of the morning.

Investigators are currently analyzing the scene and witnesses to the collision have been interviewed.
