(Montreal) A commercial building in northeast Montreal was damaged by an arson late Monday evening.
Following the event, the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) did not report any arrests and no apparent injuries were reported.
It was a passerby who alerted the authorities around 11:30 p.m. when he noticed that flames were coming from a building located near the intersection of Boulevard Industriel and Avenue de Bruxelles, in the borough of Montréal-Nord. .
When they arrived, firefighters from the Montreal Fire Safety Service (SSIM) began to put out the fire. The damage caused to the building was not very significant.
While inspecting the site, SPVM police officers found an incendiary object as well as evidence suggesting that a product was used to fan the flames. The investigation was therefore handed over to the SPVM arson squad.
Investigators were expected to visit the scene later in the day on Tuesday.
