Montreal–New York route | Bus accident leaves one dead and several injured

(Lake George) One person died and several were injured when a bus heading from Montreal overturned Friday on a highway in the southern Adirondacks, New York State Police said.


The crash occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on the Adirondack Northway – or Highway 87 – in the town of Lake George, according to state police, who say it was a tour bus. Skyway Coach Line.” A video broadcast by local media showed a bus tipped onto its side on the shoulder of the road.

The bus was headed to New York City, about 180 miles south.

Police confirmed one death and said a passenger was flown to Albany Medical Center in critical condition. Twelve other passengers were taken to Glens Falls Hospital with minor injuries, hospital spokesman Ray Agnew said.

There were 23 people on the bus, including the driver, police said.

Gov. Kathy Hochul said police and Department of Transportation employees were at the site.

The southbound highway was closed between exits 23 and 22.

“I join the people of New York in praying for the well-being of everyone involved in this horrific incident and am deeply grateful for the heroic efforts of our first responders,” Mr.me Hochul in a press release.
