Montreal-New York bus accident | A Montrealer lost her life

A 74-year-old Montreal woman lost her life in the accident of a bus traveling from Montreal to New York on Friday, state police confirmed Sunday.




The victim, a 74-year-old woman from Montreal, is named Jeanne Elzanie Jourdan Colin, New York police said in a press release on Sunday.

Another passenger remains between life and death after being transported by helicopter to the Albany Medical Center, according to police.

Remember that on Friday afternoon, the overturning of a bus linking Montreal to New York also left around ten other people injured.

Global Affairs Canada is “aware of the death of a Canadian citizen in the United States. Consular officers provide consular assistance to the family and are in contact with local authorities,” the federal agency said in a statement. The Press Sunday.

The accident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. Friday on the Adirondack Northway – or Highway 87 – in the town of Lake George. It involved a Skyway Coach Line tour bus, authorities said.

A video broadcast by local media showed a coach lying on its side on the shoulder of the road.

The bus, which was carrying 23 people, including the driver, was heading to New York, about 180 miles south.

The dozen other passengers, several of whom speak French and are from Canada, were transported to a fire station not far from the scene of the accident, where they were questioned by the authorities, said the Warren County spokesman Don Lehman.
