Montreal | Minister Marc Miller’s office vandalized

The constituency office of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Minister Marc Miller was vandalized overnight Wednesday to Thursday in Montreal. The incident may be related to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, according to police.

The facade of the office, located on Rue Saint-Jacques, was sprayed with paint. Windows were also smashed and graffiti was painted on the sidewalk.

The person or persons responsible also entered the premises to commit other acts of vandalism. “Several acts of mischief were committed inside. We are talking about major damage,” said Officer Sabrina Gauthier, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Department (SPVM).

Investigators are on site trying to trace the events. No arrests have been made so far.

The police do not rule out the possibility that this gesture is linked to the war between Israel and Hamas. “We know that demonstrations have already taken place in the area,” stresses officer Gauthier.
