The orange line of the Montreal metro is paralyzed between the Berri-UQAM and Henri-Bourassa stations.
This is what the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) indicates on social networks.
The service outage has been in progress since 1:10 p.m. and is caused by an intervention by emergency medical services. “Resumption planned around 3:10 p.m.,” indicates the STM.
“A special bus service is currently shuttling between the Berri-UQAM and Henri-Bourassa stations,” the organization continued.
Another service outage affected the same section of the Orange Line earlier today, from approximately 11:10 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. The entire blue line was also stopped.
Isabelle Tremblay, spokesperson for the STM, indicated that the service interruptions have “nothing to do with each other.”
The morning event was caused by “a possible infiltration of dangerous materials”, probably an irritant gas, at the Iberville station. As this station is located very close to the Jean-Talon station, the two lines which pass there had to be stopped, indicated Mme Tremblay.
In the afternoon, an intervention by emergency services at the Jean-Talon station caused the interruption. The STM remains discreet about the exact nature of the event.
