Montreal Marathon | Road disruptions expected

All along the runners’ route, streets will be closed to traffic this Sunday morning in Montreal, and will remain so until early afternoon. The City recommends using public transportation, but reminds that several crossing points will be available by car.

“We are expecting high levels of congestion, so you will really have to plan your trips,” recalled the city’s administrative spokesperson, Guillaume Rivest, a few days earlier.

The half-marathon and full marathon runners set off from Espace 67; they will pass through Old Montreal, Berri Hill and La Fontaine Park, before crossing the island via Saint-Laurent Boulevard to Rivière-des-Prairies. They will then go back down the same axis and return east via Saint-Joseph Boulevard to Maisonneuve Park.

In short, it is best to avoid the Saint-Laurent and Saint-Joseph axes. That said, Sherbrooke Street, Highway 40, Viger Avenue and the Van Horne Viaduct remain open to automobile traffic.
