(Montreal) A man was found dead in the parking lot of a building in the north of Montreal, Wednesday morning, after being probably hit by at least one projectile from a firearm.
The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reports that the presence of the man on the ground was notified around 3 a.m. by a citizen. When the police and Urgences-santé paramedics arrived, he was pronounced dead.
A cursory examination of the surroundings revealed a casing from a firearm projectile. However, at the end of the night, no arrests were reported.
A security perimeter was erected on the site of the discovery of the corpse, on boulevard Henri-Bourassa Ouest, near the intersection of avenue Bois-de-Boulogne, in the Nouveau-Bordeaux district.
Investigators from the SPVM’s major crimes squad will be called to shed light on what happened. Their work was to begin with meetings with people in the neighborhood.
This assassination occurred a little less than 12 hours after the murder of a 39-year-old woman in a parking lot on rue Jean-Talon Ouest, near the intersection with rue de la Savane, in the Côte- des-Neiges, in the west of Montreal.
As of Wednesday, police were not reporting any arrests in this regard either.
On the other hand, the SPVM was not yet able to say if a link could be established between the two murders, the eighth and ninth to occur on the island of Montreal since the beginning of the year 2023.
