“According to initial information, the van-style vehicle was traveling on Sainte-Émilie Street and would have turned north on Saint-Augustin Street and subsequently, the van would have driven on the victim who was lying in the middle of the street” , said agent Caroline Chèvrefils, of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

The victim was transported to a hospital. The driver, a 53-year-old man, was not injured.

The police were called to the scene around 4:45 a.m., where they found the young man unconscious and seriously injured on the roadway.

A perimeter was erected and rue Saint-Augustin was closed between rue Notre-Dame and rue Saint-Ambroise, like rue Sainte-Émilie between rue Turgeon and rue Maria, in the Sud-Ouest borough.

An investigation is underway to clarify the circumstances of the collision.
