The closure of this major highway was announced around 6:30 a.m. by the Quebec 511 service on Twitter.
The accident involved three vehicles and a cube truck and caused a fire in the tunnel, but was quickly brought under control by the emergency services.
The tunnel will remain closed to traffic while operations last, the Ministry of Transport said.
Around 7 a.m., a monster traffic jam formed on Highway 25 southbound to the Anjou interchange.
