Montreal: his vehicle embedded in a low wall of an STM building

A 30-year-old motorist caused a collision before crashing his vehicle into the wall of a Société de transport de Montréal (STM) building, during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville in Montreal.

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) was alerted by a 911 call shortly before midnight regarding an accident on Beauharnois Street East, near Saint-Laurent Boulevard.

On site, the police found a vehicle embedded in the building which is located in a cul-de-sac, while the driver, who was alone on board, fled before their arrival.

According to witnesses met by the police, the vehicle was traveling on rue Beauharnois Ouest in an eastbound direction at high speed before hitting the low wall of the building head-on.

The suspect was quickly located by the police, who then arrested him for driving while impaired by alcohol, said the SPVM.

The 30-year-old was taken to the detention center to undergo an alcohol test, according to SPVM spokesperson Véronique Dubuc, who specifies that no one was injured.
