A major storm affected Ontario and Quebec. 500,000 inhabitants are still without electricity, Friday evening April 7th.
Throughout the city of Montreal, the same noise. That of the cracking of the branches covered with frost, which end up breaking. Because for the past two days, an ice storm has been hitting the regions of Quebec and Ontario in Canada. Two people lost their lives, struck by dead wood. The branches, as if petrified by the cold, also fall on power lines, which do not resist for long. 500,000 inhabitants are still without electricity on Friday evening April 7th.
Unheard of for 20 years
In the streets, the damage is clearly visible. The ice bent these trees, which, broken by the cold, crashed into dozens of cars. Residents had not seen an ice storm of such intensity in 20 years. 1,400 people are mobilized to repair the power lines, and dozens of others to clear the sidewalks. This Friday evening again, the authorities are calling for caution and encouraging residents to stay away from all wooded areas.
