A fire that started on the rear balcony at 3e floor of a residential building in the Rosemont district, in Montreal, required the intervention of approximately 70 firefighters late Sunday afternoon.
Quickly, the flames spread inside and to the attic of the building located on 3e avenue, between Masson and Dandurand streets.
But around 6 p.m., the fire was under control, although firefighters were still inspecting the structure, said a spokesman for the Montreal Fire Department, Robert Rousseau.
No injuries were reported and authorities are still trying to locate the tenants and building owner since they were not on the scene when the incident occurred.
The Red Cross was still called in as reinforcements since some apartments could no longer be habitable for a certain period, said Robert Rousseau.
No less than 3,423 homes were deprived of electricity in the area due to this incident.
