Montreal | Fatal collision between an STM bus and a pedestrian

A man lost his life Monday evening after being hit by the driver of a Société de transport de Montréal (STM) bus in the Saint-Laurent borough of Montreal.

The collision occurred shortly after 9 p.m. at the corner of Décarie and Édouard-Laurin boulevards, in the northwest of Montreal. This intersection is less than 100 meters from the Côte-Vertu metro station, located on the orange line.

The bus was traveling on Décarie Boulevard and turned westbound when it hit the pedestrian who was crossing the intersection. The man’s death was noted on the scene by emergency services, indicates Caroline Chèvrefils, media relations officer for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM). The identity of the victim is not yet known.

The bus driver suffered a nervous shock and was transported to a hospital, but was not injured, said the publicist.

A perimeter was established at the scene of the accident so that SPVM police officers specializing in collision investigation could analyze it. Witnesses were interviewed as part of the investigation.

Décarie Boulevard was closed between Chemin de la Côte-Vertu and Rue Decelles Monday evening.
