Montreal ends flood alert mode

A month after launching the alert mode due to the risk of flooding, the drop in water levels allows the City of Montreal to move into the recovery phase.

The flow at Carillon fell below the minor flood threshold and that of the Rivière des Prairies below the land impact threshold, according to the director of the fire safety service and civil security coordinator for the agglomeration of Montreal.

“These data, added to the meteorological context and the forecasts of the Ministry of the Environment, the Fight against Climate Change, Wildlife and Parks, allow us to conclude that the situation has stabilized”, argued Richard Liebmann, Wednesday by communicated.

However, civil security is not stopping its mobilization since it continues to come to the aid of the boroughs and related towns affected by the spring floods.

These sectors have also begun to dismantle the dikes and the temporary means of protection that had been put in place to protect residences.

Remember that five people were evacuated from Mercier Island between May 4 and May 8 before being taken care of by the Red Cross.

Parks and roads are expected to be fully reopened over the next few days.
