Montreal Completely Circus | Last Judgement: A High-Flying Cabaret

The Monastery recently launched its Cabaret du Jugement dernier. A (friendly) competition of very high quality bringing together several stars of the Montreal circus scene.

American-born circus artist Jenny Tufts opened the Cabaret du Jugement Dernier competition with an aerial hoop act. The green-haired artist was able to create a real connection with the audience that came in large numbers last Saturday to the Monastère.

The master of ceremonies, Philippe Thibaudeau, aka MC Philidor, is impeccable in this entertaining cabaret where he presents the eight competing artists with slightly offbeat humor, while himself performing at least two comic numbers with remarkable presence.

Another highlight of the competition: Karel Chevalier’s aerial silk number, who begins his aerial routine blindfolded before continuing his number which mixes dance and acrobatics (on sight) on the text piece Ocean Force by Émile Proulx-Cloutier.

Cyr wheel specialist Charlie Wheeler also complicated the jury’s task by offering an energetic number, accompanied on stage by the excellent guitarist Joey Mallat, who managed to create a real connection with the audience. An audience invited to vote for their favorite number (at the end).

Several other artists stood out during the evening hosted by MC Philidor (our photo). Let’s mention Isabella Majzun with her balloon manipulation/juggling act or the duo formed by Maxim Laurin and his partner Guillaume Larouche on the seesaw, which undoubtedly won the most votes… The Cabaret du Jugement dernier continues until July 13.
