Professional campers Kevin GoldenCrust and his wife Grace Bacon-GoldenCrust stopped their flamboyant motorized vehicle decorated with palm trees at TOHU’s outdoor site. Until Sunday, the duo presents its “large-scale” show there. The GoldenCrust family : Above of “C” for camping.

Posted on his campground kitsch at will, the couple of snowbirds warmly welcome the spectators. “You, how is it? Kevin asks a woman who sits in the stands. ” And you sir ? In a few minutes, we know the names of half the crowd. The table is set for a convivial and unpretentious performance.

The characters who “spend their winter performing in the most beautiful spots in Florida” promise a colorful evening. Pyrotechnics and lasers are to be expected, they claim. “But you’re going to have to help us imagine ti-bouts,” says the man with the flamboyant Longueuil haircut.

Bubble or smoke machine, sound effects, changes of scenery: all the special effects of the show are created by the duo, who redouble their ingenuity to surprise the public. Put on a black jumpsuit to bring fish and seagulls to life? Good idea, Kevin!

In the bleachers, adults and children embark with pleasure on the exploded imagination of the characters, especially when they pretend to become dolphins for a number of hoops…

… or even when Kevin prepares a choreography with the public to surprise his sweetheart. A moment that the youngest spectators seem to particularly like. Come on, crowd! We get up and we dance!

The GoldenCrust family has a fully assumed “hay skewer” side that provokes many laughs. However, don’t think that Kevin and Grace are without talents. Theirs are just…unusual. Who can boast of being able to juggle with his mouth?

Behind Grace and Kevin hides the duo Les deux de piques, made up of Tamara Bousquet and Philippe Trépanier, circus artists with more than 15 years of experience.

In 2020, inspired by the snowbirds who were returning home due to the pandemic, they created these endearing camper characters. “We listened to our classics again: Wild camping, Elvis Gratton, The Lavigueurs are moving… Then, we all brewed it together, ”explains Philippe Trépanier in an interview.

For three summers, they have been traveling the roads with their motorhome to “spread joy and good humor”, indicates Kevin’s interpreter. “It’s our hotel, our home, our decor, our transportation. That’s it,” he says of the vehicle. “We live surrounded by a lot of decorations in the trailer,” laughs Tamara Bousquet.

Also presented last year, the show has been enhanced with new segments, including a perilous blindfold crossing. After Montreal completely circus, the couple will stop in particular in Saguenay, in Mauricie, but also in Newfoundland and Labrador and in Ohio. With, in his luggage, laser beams and fireworks, of course.
