A Lebanese bakery was the target of an arson attempt in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville, in Montreal, on Sunday morning.

A call was made to 9-1-1 shortly before 5 a.m. for the start of a fire at the Achtarout bakery and pastry shop, located at the intersection of Charles-de-La Tour and Antonio-Barbeau streets.
One incendiary object was found inside the business, confirms the SPVM.

The owner of the establishment open to the public for at least 25 years explains to TVA Nouvelles that the damage to the enclosure is significant, but mainly caused by the triggering of the sprinklers. No injuries are reported.
Although he is not worried about the future, the owner says he is “frustrated” by the events. He claims to have received no threats or demands for money from criminals.

The investigation was transferred to investigators from the Montreal Police Department’s Arson Module, who will later go to the scene of the blaze.
No arrests had been made by the police at the beginning of the morning.
