Montreal Auto Show | Cadillac

The luxury subsidiary of General Motors presents the Canadian preview of the Escalade IQ. This one has nothing to do with the Escalade that we have known for more than a quarter of a century. The suffix IQ here designates the presence of an entirely electric propeller to move it. Based on an architecture identical to that of the Hummer, the Escalade IQ will be visible in the brand’s dealerships during the fall of 2024.

According to its designers, this model will not only be able to travel more than 700 km on a full charge, but also offer even faster performance (acceleration and pick-up) than its gasoline “counterpart”. The Escalade IQ promises better driving sensations due to its lower center of gravity and its four-wheel drive system. The latter makes it possible to improve the stability of the vehicle, but also to make it more agile when parking it, for example. The Escalade IQ brings together all the technological advances of this prestigious brand, including the semi-autonomous driving system (Super Cruise).

If you have the chance, climb aboard. You will notably discover an impressive electroluminescent panel – 55 in. – which runs from east to west across the dashboard and armchairs which envelop you like a warm handshake. If you feel like it, you could even locate the 40 speakers that line this cabin designed like a private jet.

Although the Escalade IQ is its mechanical star at the Montreal Auto Show, Cadillac has other new products in its pipeline. Indeed, Cadillac has announced that four vehicles (Celestiq, Optiq, Symbolic and Vistiq) will be added to its catalog in the coming months.

Cadillac CT5

Alongside this all-electric offensive, Cadillac is giving its CT5 sedan a little dusting, which remains faithful to its thermal (petrol) engines. In addition to aesthetic changes, the CT5 is enriched with advanced connectivity (compatibility with Google, for example) and additional passive safety systems (automatic emergency braking at intersections). Finally, let us mention that the Cadillac CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing will, for their part, be renewed.
