Montreal | Arsonist found injured, then arrested at the scene

(Montreal) A man whom the police suspect of having started a fire at the end of the night, Monday, in a commercial establishment in the north of Montreal, was found injured at the scene and placed in a state of arrest.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reports that the medical authorities who treated the man in hospital do not fear for his life.

It was a call made to the 911 emergency telephone exchange, around 4 a.m., which sounded the alarm for a fire in the building located on rue Saint-Zotique Est, near the intersection of rue de Saint -Vallier, in the district of La-Petite-Patrie.

Firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SSIM) did not take long to neutralize the fire.

It was on entering inside that they found the injured man and notified the SPVM police. They concluded that he was the one who started the fire.

A security perimeter has been erected and investigators from the SPVM arson squad will come to inspect the premises later.
