A sport utility vehicle (VAS) was completely destroyed by an arson fire in the borough of Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension, in Montreal, Thursday evening.
Montreal police were alerted around 10 p.m. by 911 calls about a burning vehicle parked on 13th Avenue, near François-Perrault Street.
When the police arrived on the scene, the firefighters were already in the process of bringing the fire under control.
Traces of accelerant were found in the vehicle, said Montreal Police Department spokeswoman Caroline Chèvrefils, adding that no suspects have been arrested yet.
The vehicle, which is a total loss, was towed for the purposes of an expertise, added agent Chèvrefils.
The investigation was transferred to the SPVM arson squad.
