Montreal: arrested while refueling … with a firearm

A police officer with a good nose caught two suspects refueling their car with a fully loaded firearm in their possession, at a gas station in the West Island of Montreal.

Monday evening, the sergeant was already at the gas station when the two suspects showed up there.

“He carried out a routine check of their car under the Highway Safety Code. During the operation, a noise caught his attention. Looking under the vehicle, the police officer discovered a gun on the ground,” the SPVM said in a statement.

In all likelihood, one of the suspects tried to hide it under the vehicle when he saw the policeman.

“The weapon was fully loaded and ready to be used,” the police said.

A search of the suspects vehicle revealed a high capacity magazine and ammunition in the glove compartment.

The two individuals were arrested and transported to an investigation center. They are both known to police circles.

Criminal charges should be laid against them for possession of a prohibited firearm.
