(Montreal) A 31-year-old man was injured in the upper body during an armed attack that occurred in a Montreal bar during the night from Thursday to Friday.
It was around 3:40 a.m. that police officers were called to intervene in an establishment located near the intersection of the 17e Avenue and rue Jean-Talon, in the Saint-Michel district.
“According to initial information, a conflict broke out inside between around five people. One of them then allegedly took out a sharp object and injured the victim,” said the spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM), Officer Sabrina Gauthier.
The victim was transported to a hospital center to treat his injuries, which are not life-threatening, said the SPVM.
Police reported no arrests early Friday morning, as the suspects fled before police arrived.
The SPVM was conducting an investigation during which witnesses were met and surveillance cameras were viewed in order to understand the circumstances of the event.
The victim will also be met during the day on Friday when his health permits.
Investigators and the forensic identification service were also called to the scene where a security perimeter was erected.
