Montreal and Laval | Strike mandate in 60 CPEs affiliated with the CSN

(Montreal) The union members affiliated with the CSN who work in 60 early childhood centers (CPE) in Montreal and Laval and whose employer is represented by the Association patronale nationale des CPE (APNCPE) adopted on Wednesday a mandate to 10 days of strike that can be exercised at the time deemed appropriate.

The Montreal and Laval CPE workers’ union, which announced the news on Friday, criticizes the APNCPE for being the only employers’ association that still refuses to fully implement the national agreement reached between the Quebec government and the majority of employers’ associations last December.

The union’s interim president, Anne-Joelle Galipeau, adds that the Association wants to impose major setbacks, in particular to modify the normal work week, to withdraw the union’s participation in the choice of schedules and in the selection and tenure committees. .

Last Tuesday, the APNCPE denounced that the union had reacted to an employer counter-proposal by asking for a strike mandate.

She added that the union refuses to negotiate anything that would lead to a solution concerning a management issue. The Association mentioned in particular the shortage of manpower, schedules adapted to the needs of the clientele, legal obligations of CPEs and decision-making accountability.

In order to resolve the impasse, the union is calling on parents to call on the board of directors of their establishment. The Association thinks that there is a way to settle the dispute without going on strike.
