Montreal | An MTQ employee injured by a driver

(Montreal) An employee of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MTMD) was injured during the night of Sunday in Montreal by the driver of an SUV who was possibly intoxicated.


The accident occurred around 2:45 a.m. at the junction of highways 15 North and 40 East, on an access ramp to the exit of what is commonly called the Décarie highway.

“According to initial information collected, a sports utility vehicle (SUV) traveled on road flares and then hit a van from the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility which was stationary in the right lane protecting it from another collision », Explained Sergeant Catherine Bernard, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

“The worker was inside his van. He suffered significant injuries and was transported to the hospital center, where there was no fear for his life,” according to the SQ spokesperson.

As for the driver of the SUV, he was placed under arrest.

“He was arrested for driving while impaired by alcohol. He was then taken to the station to undergo the breathalyzer test. The 39-year-old man has been released and is expected to appear at a later date in connection with this event,” said Sergeant Bernard.

Police officers specializing in collision scene reconstruction were called to the scene to analyze the scene and try to clarify the causes and circumstances of the event.

The Sûreté du Québec investigation continues.
