Montreal: An accident causes the closure of the A-40 eastbound in Anjou

A semi-trailer truck that caused an accident caused a massive traffic jam on Highway 40 eastbound in Anjou, Montreal on Wednesday morning.

The heavyweight ended up in a jackknife, blocking all lanes of the highway, while the vehicles were bumper to bumper up to Boulevard Pie-IX.

Highway 40 eastbound has been closed “for an indefinite period” between the Anjou interchange and the exit to Boulevard Roi-René, Transport Quebec said.

The accident was caused probably due to the slippery pavement. The driver of the truck was not injured, said Marythé Bolduc, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
