(Montreal) The Montreal Alouettes will look much the same in 2024. At least, on the sidelines.
The team announced Thursday that it had reached new agreements with almost its entire coaching staff for the next campaign. In fact, only defensive backs coach Tyrrell Sutton won’t be back. He and the team decided to go in opposite directions.
Thus, after announcing a two-season contract extension to Jason Maas on Wednesday, the Alouettes head coach will be able to count on the return of Bryon Archambault, who will still act as assistant to the head coach and special teams coordinator. Anthony Calvillo will be the offensive coordinator in addition to leading the quarters. He will be assisted by Michael Lionello, who becomes coordinator of the aerial attack and retains his position as receivers coach.
Noel Thorpe, whose defense greatly contributed to the Alouettes’ eighth Gray Cup victory last month, returns as defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach. Chandler Jones will assist him in this second task.
Corey Irvin will still be in charge of the defensive line. On the other side of the ball, it is Luc Brodeur-Jourdain who will continue to carry out this task. He will be assisted by David Brown, who is leaving the field to become a coach. The running backs will be the job of Dave Jackson, who leaves the special teams to find himself on offense.
Finally, the linebackers will find coach Greg Quick.
