(Montreal) The Montreal Alouettes announced on Monday that David Deschamps has been named defensive and special teams assistant coach. As a player, he played under Danny Maciocia for the Montreal Carabins, from 2012 to 2016, as a safety, linebacker and kicker.

He notably helped the team win the Vanier Cup at Percival-Molson Memorial Stadium in 2014, before joining the Calgary Stampeders’ practice squad in 2017. The Quebecer was then responsible for running backs. defensemen and kickers with the André-Grasset College Phénix, in Tony Iadeluca’s coaching staff, from 2018 to 2020.
Deschamps, 29, joined the Alouettes in 2021 as equipment manager.
The Alouettes have also announced that they have added Laval halfback Ryth-Jean Giraud to their roster, as well as American linebacker Erroll Thompson. The Montrealers also released American running back Al McKeller and American linebacker Qaadir Sheppard.
On Sunday, the Alouettes announced that all training sessions scheduled for their camp were postponed “until further notice”.
