(Montreal) Two motorists will pay dearly for their speeding after being intercepted Tuesday evening by highway patrol officers from the Sûreté du Québec on Highway 40, near Highway 13, in Montreal.
Around 8 p.m., the “two motorists were driving one behind the other and making lane changes and dangerous movements in traffic for several kilometers,” when they were intercepted by the police, underlines a press release from the SQ.
In this area, the maximum speed permitted by law is 100 km/h. However, the driver of the first vehicle, a 22-year-old Montrealer, was intercepted at a speed of 172 km/h.
For such speeding, she received a fine of $1,405, along with 14 demerit points. The police also issued another ticket for $1,567 to which were added four other demerit points “for having committed an action likely to endanger life”. A final citation, this one for $499, was issued to him for obstructing the work of a peace officer.
What’s more, his driving license was suspended for a period of seven days.
The other motorist, an 18-year-old man from Blainville, received a fine of $1,567 with four demerit points for also having committed an action likely to endanger life.
