Montreal: a vehicle ravaged by arson

A vehicle was ravaged by an arson fire in the Ahuntsic sector, in Montreal, on Wednesday morning.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) was alerted shortly before 4 a.m. to a vehicle on fire on rue St-Arsène, near rue Foucher.

When the police arrived on the scene, the firefighters were already in the process of bringing the flames under control, according to an SPVM spokesperson.

No one was injured in the incident, which did not affect other vehicles, but the vehicle is a total loss, said agent Jean-Pierre Brabant.

A can of gasoline was found on the spot, while a witness would have seen a vehicle quickly leave the scene at the start of the fire.

The investigation was transferred to the SPVM’s arson section, which was to dispatch its investigators to the scene to analyze the scene, while the vehicle was towed to be appraised.
