(Montreal) A shooting left one dead and two seriously injured Tuesday evening in downtown Montreal.
Updated yesterday at 10:54 p.m.
Around 7:55 p.m., officers from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) were called to intervene for shots fired at the corner of Saint-Antoine Ouest and de la Montagne streets, in front of the Bell Center .
After some research, they ended up locating the victims’ car in front of the Georges-Vanier metro station, at the corner of Saint-Antoine and Georges-Vanier streets.
The victims, two men in their twenties, were in the vehicle. One was dead while the other was taken to hospital in critical condition.
Suspects Wanted
According to the first information available, at least one person in a moving vehicle opened fire on them. The two men would then have fled at the wheel before stopping a little further, in front of the Georges-Vanier metro station.
A little later, the police spotted a third victim at the corner of Saint-Antoine and Saint-Martin streets, also a man in his twenties in critical condition. He was still conscious when taken to the hospital. It is unclear at this time if he fell victim to the same attackers.
The investigators will try to question him in order to know the course of the facts. An investigation is ongoing and the suspects behind the shooting were still being sought on Tuesday evening.
“There are several surveillance cameras around the Bell Centre, in the condo towers, in particular, which will have to be viewed,” said SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant.
A large police perimeter has been set up on rue Saint-Antoine Ouest, between rue Peel and rue Georges-Vanier.
