Another restaurant was targeted by a suspicious fire overnight from Sunday to Monday in the Mile-End district of Montreal.

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) was alerted around 3:45 a.m. for a fire in a business located on rue Bernard Ouest, near avenue de l’Esplanade.
When the police arrived on site, firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department were already at work trying to control the flames.
Residents of 2e and 3e Floors were evacuated due in particular to smoke, but no one was injured, said SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant.

According to witnesses interviewed by the SPVM, at least one suspect was seen throwing an incendiary object before the fire started and fleeing afterwards.
The investigation into this fire which caused significant damage to the establishment was transferred to the arson section of the SPVM.
Investigators should travel to the scene during Monday morning to analyze the scene and try to determine the circumstances surrounding this fire, it was added.
