Montreal: a private lesson center targeted by a Molotov cocktail

A center for private lessons in mathematics and English was targeted by a Molotov cocktail on the night of Sunday to Monday, in Pierrefonds, Montreal.

The police were notified around midnight by a citizen of the start of a fire in a shopping center near Saint-Charles and Pierrefonds boulevards.

When the police arrived on the scene, they actually saw the start of a fire in the Kumon establishment, the front window of which was smashed.

Called to the rescue, firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department quickly brought the flames under control, before noticing the presence of an incendiary object.

The damage caused to the business is all in all minor, the fire not having spread to the rest of the building.

The scene was protected by a security perimeter, pending the movement of investigators from the arson section of the Montreal police during the morning.

No arrests have been made in relation to the case, said the spokesperson for the Montreal Police Service, Véronique Dubuc.

This is the first time that an establishment of its kind has been targeted by Molotov cocktails in Montreal, where bars are usually the target.
