The police officer tried to intercept a vehicle at fault during a radar operation, on rue Armand-Chaput, near the intersection of boulevard Henri-Bourassa, in Rivière-des-Prairies, around 8 a.m. Sunday morning.

Rather than coming to a stop, the vehicle in question overturned the police officer and his motorcycle. The policeman was injured “in the upper and lower body,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, public relations officer for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM). Reinforcements then arrived.

The injured man was taken to hospital and his life is not in danger.

The vehicle in question was not intercepted by the police and no arrests have yet been made in the file, according to information from the SPVM.

The crime scene has been secured. An investigation by the Major Crimes section of the SPVM has been opened to understand the circumstances of the collision.
