A 32-year-old pedestrian succumbed to his injuries after being violently hit by a vehicle Tuesday evening in the borough of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, in Montreal.
The collision occurred around 7:50 p.m. when the victim, who was trying to cross Hochelaga Street at De La Salle Avenue, was hit by a car traveling eastbound.
The 30-year-old was taken to hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his serious injuries, said Mariane Allaire Morin of the Montreal Police Service.
As for the driver of the vehicle, he was also transported to a hospital center to treat post-traumatic shock, said the SPVM.
Collision investigation technicians were called to the scene to analyze the scene protected by a security perimeter and try to determine the circumstances of the accident.
The investigation is continuing, but speed could be involved in this fatal collision, added the SPVM spokesperson.
