The collision occurred around 1 a.m. on a road construction site near the exit of the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel, on Highway 25 northbound.

The driver of the vehicle allegedly did not respect the slowing down instructions put in place by a restraint patrol, before hitting the worker and fleeing.

The victim, a 56-year-old man, was transported to a hospital for serious injuries which did not, however, put his life in danger, according to the Sûreté du Québec.

SQ investigators and reconstructionists were called to the scene to analyze the scene, while the traffic obstructions were lifted around 5 a.m.

No information on the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle is currently available, according to the SQ, adding that witnesses attended this accident.
