Montreal: a motorcyclist seriously injured in a collision

A 43-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured Thursday evening after a collision with a vehicle in the borough of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, in Montreal.

Calls to 911 alerted the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) to an accident that occurred shortly after 10 p.m. between a car and a moped on rue Notre-Dame Est, near rue Georges-Bizet in the neighborhood of Tetreaultville.

Injured in the upper and lower body, the victim was taken care of by Urgences-santé and quickly transported to a hospital center where she would be out of danger, according to SPVM spokesperson Jeanne Drouin.

The driver of the vehicle, a 65-year-old man, was met by the police who should also meet the victim to have his version of the facts, once his state of health allows it, it was specified.

A large security perimeter was erected on site, while investigators from the SPVM’s collision investigation module were already busy analyzing the scene in order to determine the exact circumstances surrounding this collision.
