Montreal | A minor victim of attempted murder

A teenager was hospitalized Sunday evening after being stabbed in downtown Montreal.

The attack occurred at the corner of Berger and Sainte-Catherine streets east, near the Saint-Laurent metro station in Montreal. The sector is particularly known for drug trafficking and consumption.

Police were called to the scene around 6:30 p.m. due to a fight that reportedly took place between several people. They then received a request for help from this young man of minor age, explains Sabrina Gauthier, media relations officer for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

The victim was conscious when the police arrived, she said. She had been injured in the upper body by a sharp object.

The teenager, whose identity has not yet been validated by the authorities, was transported to hospital. His life was initially considered in danger. By the end of the evening, his condition stabilized.

A security perimeter was erected in the area for investigation purposes. SPVM investigators attended the scene. As of Sunday evening, no arrests had been made.
