Montreal | A million more for supervised consumption sites

(Montreal) The government of Quebec will grant more than one million dollars to organizations in Montreal offering supervised consumption sites.




The Minister responsible for Social Services, Lionel Carmant, made the announcement at the premises of the organization Specter de rue, Friday morning, in the Centre-Sud district of Montreal.

He revealed that an additional $1,452,000 will be granted to organizations, of which “a large portion” will be distributed to Cactus Montreal, Specter de Rue, Dopamine and L’Anonyme, during 2023 and 2024. Each of these organizations will receive $300,000.

The minister was alongside Josefina Blanco, municipal councilor and responsible for the homelessness file on the executive committee of the City of Montreal.

“An amount of $252,000 allocated to the Direction régionale de santé publique de Montréal (Drs PM) will also be used to develop new supervised consumption and drug checking services in Montreal,” reads the press release released by Minister Carmant’s office.
