Montreal | A man stabbed at Papineau station

A 24-year-old man was stabbed late Friday during an altercation involving several suspects at Papineau station, in the Centre-Sud borough, in Montreal.

The conflict occurred around 3:30 p.m., according to Sabrina Gauthier, public relations officer for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM). On site, a 24-year-old man was found by the police with an injury to his upper body from a sharp object.

A conflict that degenerated between seven or eight individuals would have led to aggression. The suspects fled before the police arrived.

The victim was taken to hospital. The injury would not endanger his life, according to the SPVM.

A perimeter has been erected on site, but Papineau station is still accessible via the east entrance. Security cameras will be viewed, while investigators and agents from the Forensic Identification Division are on scene to analyze the crime scene.
