Montreal | A man injured in an altercation in the Village

(Montreal) A violent stabbing in a park in the Centre-Sud of Montreal which occurred between two people around midnight, Thursday evening, led one of the belligerents to the hospital with significant injuries to the upper body.

At the end of the night, Friday, the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) obtained confirmation that the life of the young man aged 19 was no longer in danger.

The authorities were alerted by a call to the 911 emergency telephone exchange for a fight in Charles-S.-Campbell Park, located at the intersection of Champlain and Sainte-Rose streets, in the Village sector.

When the SPVM police arrived, the other person involved in the confrontation had fled. No arrests could be made.

A security perimeter has been established so that police canine squad dogs and crime scene technicians can undertake their work in an attempt to clear things up.

This fight occurred just hours after the mayor of Montreal, Valérie Plante, unveiled an action plan to promote the socio-economic recovery of the Village sector, which is struggling with a decline attributable in particular to violence.
