A fire caused extensive damage to a Jean Coutu pharmacy in the borough of Saint-Laurent, Montreal, overnight from Wednesday to Thursday.
The fire broke out around midnight inside the establishment located on boulevard Décarie, near rue de l’Église, according to the Montreal Fire Department (SIM).
The flames did not spread to the adjoining building and no one was injured, since the pharmacy was closed, but the damage seems considerable.
More than 75 firefighters were mobilized against the blaze after the outbreak of a second alarm, said a spokesperson for the SIM, without specifying the extent of the damage.
SIM inspectors should travel in the morning to try to determine the circumstances of this fire, the origin of which is unknown at the moment, it was added.
