Montreal: a fruit and vegetable truck burned in Ahuntsic

Montreal police are investigating a suspicious fire that targeted a fruit and vegetable wholesaler’s truck in the Ahuntsic neighborhood Thursday night.

The Montreal Police Department was alerted around 9:40 p.m. to a burning cube truck in the back of a warehouse on rue Charles-de-La Tour, near rue Legendre Ouest .

Firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SIM) quickly brought the flames under control, which still caused significant damage to the truck and a trailer.

The huge warehouse belonging to the company “Thomas – Fruits and Vegetables” did not suffer much damage, since the flames did not spread inside.

Due to the suspicious nature of the fire, the investigation was transferred to the arson section of the SPVM, spokeswoman Gabriella Youakim confirmed.

Thursday morning, the SPVM could not confirm whether the fire was caused by a Molotov cocktail, specifying that the investigators would move to the scene during the day.

They will have to determine the exact circumstances surrounding this fire targeting a fruit and vegetable wholesaler for the first time.
