Montreal: A 46-year-old man shot dead dies of his injuries

The 46-year-old man shot Wednesday night in the borough of LaSalle, Montreal, succumbed to his injuries.

The 40-year-old was targeted by gunfire shortly after 9 p.m., while he was in the garage of a residence on rue Marie-Rollet, near boulevard Guy-Bouchard.

The victim was transported in critical condition to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, said Montreal Police Department spokesman Manuel Couture.

This is the second homicide to occur on SPVM territory since the beginning of the year, he said.

The victim was known to police circles, said Constable Couture, adding that no arrests have been made at this time.

The scene of the crime was protected for the investigators who were there Thursday morning to try to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this murder.

Casings were found at the scene, it was added.
