Montreal: a 42-year-old man stabbed in an intra-family conflict

A 42-year-old man was stabbed in a domestic dispute early Wednesday morning near the Atwater metro station in downtown Montreal.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) was called around 3:20 a.m. for a person injured by a stab wound near De Maisonneuve Boulevard and Atwater Avenue.

At the scene, the police located the victim injured in the upper body. She was transported to a hospital, but there is no fear for her life.


According to initial information, an intra-family conflict would have degenerated when the suspect, a 23-year-old man, allegedly assaulted the victim before fleeing.

The latter was quickly located and arrested by the police in the Verdun sector, said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.

The suspect was then transported to an investigation center where he will be met by investigators during the day, according to the SPVM.


The scene was protected by a security perimeter pending investigators and forensic identification technicians who will look into the circumstances of this attack.

The canine unit was also requested on site to help in the search for clues in the area of ​​Atwater Avenue, temporarily closed for investigation purposes.
